Hello, internet friends!

“I embrace the label of bad feminist because I am human. I am messy. I’m not trying to be an example. I am not trying to be perfect. I am not trying to say I have all the answers. I am not trying to say I’m right. I am just trying—trying to support what I believe in, trying to do some good in this world, trying to make some noise with my writing while also being myself.”

Thank you Roxane Gay for that quote and for giving me a name for my blog. I wish I was half as good as Roxane Gay (if you haven’t heard of her yet please check out her books) but I am not. Thus, the writings you will be reading in this tiny corner of the internet will be messy but impassioned. The Bad Feminist is a writing blog I started this year . I would love to introduce this blog by simply saying that I continue to write to honour the women before me. I will be writing about women in literature and other issues that are important to me. Anyways, I think it would be rude to not introduce myself. I am Lynde Grande Alaba, a writer from the Philippines who is currently residing in Sydney, Australia. I dream to turn this blog into a safe space where women can talk about issues that matter to us. I also aim to promote books and other creations by women especially by BIPOC women and hopefully start a community that aims to make this world a better place for all women.

I am happy to have you here and hear about you! 💛

Just a few heads up:

I rant. A lot. Well, you can’t blame me. This world is messed up and if you are not angry I think you should reflect on that.
I read. Reading books is my only personality trait (aside from being angry and sad). If my four remaining brain cells will allow me, I will be writing about books and anything related to literature. And of course, I also love films and I will write film reviews that nobody asked for.
I don’t sleep. My special talent is not having any sleep for two days and still being able to function like a normal human being. My brain does not rest. Yes, all of these blabbering are a product of my sleepless nights.

Thank you for reading all of it. You are a champ!
